Terms of Use
- Ship Busters is free to play. Every purchase is optional.
- The game is a live game: content, balance and features will keep changing after launch.
- Gold is the only thing bought with real money, through INVO (on Steam, with your Steam Wallet). Purchases are final, except where the law, INVO or the store you bought through says otherwise.
- Silver and energy are play currencies with no cash value.
- Be decent to other players, in display names and fleet names too.
- Don't cheat. Arena duels award nothing, and we still suspend accounts that tamper with them.
- We can update these terms; we'll flag meaningful changes in the game.
1. Acceptance
These terms are an agreement between you and Wagyu Games LLC ("we", "us"). They apply however you play Ship Busters: in a web browser at ship-busters.web.app, in the Steam desktop app for Windows and macOS (including the free Ship Busters Demo), in our iOS and Android apps (including test and beta builds), or when you use this website. By playing or using the website you accept them. If you don't accept them, don't play.
If you're under 18, you may play, but you need a parent or guardian's permission for purchases, subscriptions and gold transfers (see sections 5 and 6).
2. Platforms and store terms
- Steam. Ship Busters is a free-to-play title on Steam for Windows and macOS. If you play through Steam, the Steam Subscriber Agreement also applies. The Steam store page lists INVO as a third-party account the game requires.
- The Ship Busters Demo. The demo is a free, limited slice of the game (the tutorials, the shipyard, and the first sea of the campaign on Normal). It has no shop, no purchases, no account registration and no gold transfers. Progress made in the demo does not carry over to the full game.
- Web. The browser version may be limited to invited players before launch, and it may be replaced by the demo for a period.
- iOS and Android. Where our mobile apps are available, the terms of the store you downloaded them from (Apple's App Store or TestFlight, or Google Play) also apply.
Where a store's terms and ours conflict about that store's service, the store's terms govern that store's service.
3. A live game
Ship Busters keeps being developed after launch, in the open and with player feedback. You should expect that:
- content, modes, ships, gear, rewards and features may be added, changed or removed;
- balance will change, including the strength of ships and parts you own or bought;
- shop prices, what a pack contains, and what the Captain's Charter gives may change;
- there will be bugs, and we'd genuinely like them reported.
Changes like these are part of an ongoing live game and are not a defect in anything you bought.
4. The service
Ship Busters is a free game with optional real-money purchases. Nothing sold in the game is needed to finish the campaign. We work hard to keep the game available, but we don't guarantee it will always be online, bug-free, or unchanged. Online features, including Arena duels, fleets, the shop, rewards and sync, may be modified, suspended, or discontinued.
Parts of the game can keep running once loaded if your connection drops, but purchases, gold transfers, the Charter, Arena duels, fleets, reward claims and cross-device sync need a connection. Your silver, rewards and progress are kept on our servers, and gold is held by INVO.
The web and mobile versions may show advertisements, including optional ads you can choose to watch for an in-game reward and occasional ads after a battle result. The Steam version shows no ads.
5. Accounts
An anonymous account is created automatically the first time you play; no sign-up is needed. You may optionally register an email and password, which upgrades that same account in place. Buying gold requires a registered account with an email address, so a purchase is never stranded on one device.
- You are responsible for your credentials: your password and any passkey enrolled on your devices. Keep them safe.
- One account per person, please.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts involved in cheating, abuse, or fraud.
6. Virtual currencies & items
Ship Busters has three currencies, and they are not alike. Read this section before spending money.
| Currency | How you get it | Bought with real money? |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | Earned by playing, from rewards, and bought with gold. Also granted by the Captain's Charter. | No, only with gold |
| Energy | Refills over time; also from rewards, optional ads (web and mobile), and bought with gold. | No, only with gold |
| Gold | Bought through INVO. Never awarded by the game. | Yes |
Silver and energy
Silver and energy are play currencies with no cash value. They cannot be bought for money directly, redeemed, or sent to other players. The only way to pass silver to anyone else is a donation to your fleet's treasury (section 8).
Gold
- Gold is purchased with real money through the INVO network, operated by Invo Tech Inc. The price and the amount of gold are shown before you pay. Gold is never earned through play, and no reward track or fleet pays it.
- Your gold balance is held by INVO on your INVO ID, not by us.
- Gold buys energy, silver, 3-star parts, ship and rig packs, and the Captain's Charter. Shop items are sold with their contents stated up front; nothing in the shop is a random draw.
- On Steam, gold is bought through Steam and paid for with your Steam Wallet. You approve the purchase in Steam's own purchase window or on Steam's checkout page, and the gold arrives once payment is confirmed.
- Everywhere else, gold is bought through INVO's checkout.
The Captain's Charter
The Captain's Charter is an optional paid standing that gives in-game perks for as long as it is held. It can be bought two ways, where offered:
- With gold, for a fixed number of days. Buying again extends a live Charter, up to a limit.
- As a monthly subscription that renews automatically until you cancel it: by card through INVO on the web, or through Steam on the Steam version. Cancel from the Charter screen in the game. On Steam, cancel in the game, because cancelling from your Steam account page may not stop the renewal.
Charter perks apply against the sea (the campaign, and the other sea modes as they arrive) and never in Arena duels. When a Charter lapses the perks stop, but nothing you were already given is taken back.
Gold transfers
Gold can leave your gold balance, which is what sets it apart:
- Gold can be sent to other players in Ship Busters. Transfers are addressed by the recipient's phone number and confirmed with your passkey (a biometric or device credential). You can't send gold to yourself within Ship Busters.
- Gold can also be transferred to other supported INVO games, where it arrives as that game's own currency. INVO charges a fee on cross-game transfers, per-game minimums and maximums apply, and both games must be open for transfers.
- Starting a transfer holds the amount. Nothing is spent until you confirm with your passkey; an unconfirmed transfer lapses and the held gold is released.
- INVO may hold a transfer for review, for a guardian's approval where the sender is a minor, or for a stronger confirmation. A passkey set up through account recovery can collect gold straight away but cannot send gold for 24 hours.
- On some platforms, including the Steam desktop app, you may need to approve a transfer on your phone or in a web browser.
- Transfers are not available in the Ship Busters Demo.
Purchases and refunds
Purchases are processed by INVO under INVO's own terms, which you accept at checkout. On Steam, purchases are also processed by Valve under the Steam Subscriber Agreement. All purchases are final, except where a refund is required by law or granted by INVO or by the store you paid through.
What you actually own
Virtual items and currencies are a limited, revocable license to use them within the game, not property you own, with one exception: Your gold balance on your INVO ID is governed by INVO's terms. Arena duels stake nothing and award nothing. Prices and pack contents may change, and we don't guarantee that any virtual item will hold a particular value or strength.
7. Arena duels
The Arena pits you against another player in a live duel, relayed through our servers. Duels grant nothing: no silver, parts, energy, rating or progress, and no Charter or fleet bonus applies in them, so captains meet on equal terms. The Arena is the newest part of the game and the part most likely to change.
8. Fleets
A fleet is a player-run company of captains. Fleets pool silver in a shared treasury; only the fleet's leader can spend it. Silver donated to a fleet is not refunded, including if you are removed from the fleet. Fleet bonuses apply against the sea and never in Arena duels. Fleet names, tags and mottos must follow the conduct rules below, and we may reject or reset ones that don't.
9. Conduct
- No cheating, exploiting bugs, or using forged or modified clients, and no tampering with Arena duels, saves, rewards or the in-game economy. Arena duels award nothing, so a dishonest client gains nothing, but we will still suspend accounts that try.
- No harassment of other players, including through display names and fleet names, tags or mottos. We may reset offensive names.
- No fraud, and no using the game, purchases or gold transfers for anything unlawful.
10. Intellectual property and AI disclosure
The game and this website (code, artwork, names, sounds, and text) belong to us or to our licensors (some artwork is licensed from Robert Brooks / gamedeveloperstudio.com). We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to play the game. You may not copy, sell, or redistribute the game or its content beyond what these terms and the law allow.
AI-generated content. Generative AI tools were used to create some of the pre-rendered content that ships with the game and appears on its store pages, specifically artwork and character voice audio. Nothing is generated by AI while the game is running.
11. Third-party services
The game relies on third-party services, and when you use them their terms apply alongside ours:
- INVO, by Invo Tech Inc. (the developer of Ship Busters): payments, gold balances, subscriptions, gold transfers, passkeys and SMS.
- Valve / Steam: the desktop app, Steam Wallet payments, the Steam overlay, and achievements.
- Google: Firebase (sign-in and hosting; analytics outside the Steam version), Google Play for the Android app, and AdMob / AdSense for ads on web and mobile.
- Apple: the App Store and TestFlight for the iOS app.
We don't control these services. How they handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Termination
You may stop playing at any time, and you may request account deletion as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access for breach of these terms, including cheating, abuse, or fraud. If your account is terminated, your license to virtual items ends; Your gold balance on your INVO ID remains governed by INVO's terms.
13. Disclaimers
The game and website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied (including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement), to the extent permitted by law. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Wagyu Games LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the game, and our total liability for any claim is capped at the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and, where applicable, the state of our principal place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located where our principal place of business is, and you consent to their jurisdiction, except where the law of your home country gives you rights that cannot be waived.
16. Changes
We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above and flag meaningful changes in the game. Continuing to play after a change means you accept the updated terms.
